Overview of the Arkreen Network from the Filecoin Green Storage Point of View

The decentralized nature of Web3 projects, powered by the veracity of this 3rd generation of the internet, is the main impetus driving the Arkreen Network, which uses a decentralized sustainable storage (Filecoin Green) system to store and retrieve Proof of Green Energy Generation (PoGG) data reports in a more cost-effective, transparent, and sustainable manner. Why do Filecoin Green storage systems work so effectively for green and sustainable data? The proliferation of blockchain platforms supported by the evolutionary new Web3 methodology makes it possible for trusted green data to be tracked and held accountable in a more open and transparent manner. Arkreen Network’s regenerative and renewable formula first involves the collection of trusted green data derived from green energy equipment generation, then secondly, the storage of this green data in a Filecoin Green storage system. Our personal mantra is to make the physical world regenerative, renewable, and “greener”. Filecoin Green storage system aims to strive for a carbon negative impact on the Planet and is already at the bleeding edge of that transformative change. On many levels, the Arkreen Network is pioneering a unique formula destined to change the way green energy converts into green data to power a new green blockchain ecosystem that evolves from its creation. Because it bases its proof-of-useful-work consensus method on the capacity of energy generation from renewable resources, hence, it does not require the excessive energy usage that simple proof-of-work blockchains do. This is one great leap for Proof of Staking consensus on the Blockchain, as climate change pain points will continue to influence how the Blockchain matures.

The Arkreen Network is a Web3 digital infrastructure for globally-distributed and renewable green energy resource platforms and is built on the Polygon public blockchain. Arkreen Network is powered by carbon-negative Filecoin (green) storage systems and enables global inter-connectivity and monetization of energy resources for carbon reduction applications. Arkreen Network is committed to enabling PoGG green data reporting from renewable energy equipment (i.e., solar PV, EV charging columns, smart air conditioners, storage batteries, etc.) that is trustworthy, transparent, and reliable while also bringing this green data onto the blockchain. The Arkreen Network allows miners (i.e., the smart data logging devices) to report the collected green data to the Arkreen Network based on PoGG protocol. Arkreen Network collects and stores this green data in a green Filecoin storage system. Finally, energy equipment owners or users can monetize their green data by creating RECs through the Arkreen Network.

In this synopsis, we aim to explain the data flowchart phases for storing the PoGG report in a Filecoin green storage system on the Arkreen Network.

Below, we describe the high-level architecture of the Arkreen Network to collect, convert and store valuable PoGG data in a Filecoin Green storage system.

Figure 1. Describes the high-level architecture of the Arkreen Network storing PoGG data reports in the Filecoin Green storage system.

Different Phases in the Arkreen Network Architecture

There are three phases of the high-level architecture of the Arkreen Network: a) Miner On-boarding b) Arkreen PoGG data report; c) RECs issuance.

a) Miner On-boarding:

In this phase, firstly, arkreen miner owners can connect with the Arkreen Network to optimally benefit from the network as a result of connecting their solar PV to the platform. The arkreen miner owner’s solar PV panel (or any other energy resources) must be initially hardware to the inverter; thereafter the arkreen-certified Smart Data Logger device (aka. Standard Miner) will be connected to the inverter. Secondly, the user must bind his Web3 non-custodial, cryptocurrency wallet account (using a Smartphone) to the Arkreen Standard Miner. The Standard Miner will then be able to track from the dashboard on a computer screen exactly how the solar PV panel is performing on an hourly basis.

Standard Miners play a significant role in the Arkreen Network allows interconnection to the inverter that fetches the green data and then transmits it to the Arkreen Network through 4G/5G cellular connectivity. The inverter, an essential part of a solar PV panel subsystem, has a critical interface connected to a Standard Miner. Simply plug the miner in and bind it with the Arkreen mobile App to begin reporting the PoGG renewable energy data and allowing the creation of an active income stream. Arkreen Network users can connect their Arkreen mobile App with a Metamask wallet. ARKEs (Arkreen Networks Rewards) are automatically saved to the wallet to reward the supplying of green energy generation data.

b) PoGG Reporting:

A state-of-the-art algorithm called Proof of Green Energy Generation (PoGG) is used by the Arkreen Network to oversee its production of green energy. An incentive will be given to each miner who completes the PoGG task. For the Arkreen Network to be able to provide services related to green energy data assets, it must be able to measure its energy generation through an onboarding process. The Arkreen Network rewards miners who consistently provide precise and reliable information about the generation of green electricity. Data must be sampled by each connected Arkreen miner every five minutes, stored locally, and submitted once an hour (1 hr). After reporting this data, the miner can clear the data from the local cache and prepare for the upcoming data report. After the miner generates a sufficient amount of green data, the Arkreen Network uploads the miner’s data to the Filecoin Green storage system based on the PoGG formula. The Arkreen Network collects and uploads the green data generated from the previous day for all miners who provided the green data in the Arkreen Network based on the standard configuration time in the network, e.g., every 1:00 AM, and it automatically uploads the data to the Filecoin Green storage system.

We describe below the five main steps of reporting PoGG data onto the Arkreen Network, as well as Filecoin Green storage. Miners supply the PoGG data to the Arkreen Network, and then the Arkreen miner’s owners (users) can request a REC issuance via the Arkreen Network. In order to complete the PoGG data reporting, the following steps are described in the green arrow processes in Figure 1:

  1. Green power data is generated and reported to the Arkreen Network
  2. Arkreen Network is responsible for storing and verifying the daily update of the PoGG data report.
  3. Arkreen miners’ owners can earn AKRE based on green data reported to the network.
  4. A daily PoGG data report of all miners is sent to the Filecoin Green storage system by creating a content identifier in each data report stored.
  5. In the Filecoin Green Network, data can be appended day by day.

c) RECs Issuance:

This phase deals with the process of creating and issuing a REC (Renewable Energy Certificate), which is conducted through evoking a smart contract on the Arkreen Network. The miner owner (user) can query Arkreen Network for how much green energy his miner has generated. The user can create a REC against the green energy amount. RECs are issued as NFTs by following the three blue steps indicated in Figure 1:

  • Users request RECs through the Arkreen Network.
  • Using the content identifier (CID) created and linked to each file located in the green Filecoin network, the Arkreen Network queries the user’s green data in the Filecoin Green storage system.
  • The user can use this green data-generated report to create a verifiable, digital REC, which can be minted as an NFT. Additionally, for data verification procedures, when the miner owner sells his REC NFT. The buyer may ask Arkreen Network to verify the data indexed by the NFT, or draw data from Filecoin Green and verify it by himself.

What is the PoGG data size stored in the Filecoin Green storage system?

A PoGG algorithm offers a compression method for saving excessive amounts of PoGG data size report stored in Filecoin Green storage. The data sizes stored in the Filecoin Green storage system are categorized as compressed and uncompressed PoGG data reports. For compressed PoGG, the data size is small, which at the same time can optimize the network throughput and storage efficiency as well as the low network bandwidth. While, uncompressed PoGG data can be accessed in real-time, however, additional computation is required.
